Shree Sharada English High School, Marcel, emerged victorious by defeating Pragati Vidhyalaya, Borim in the boys' category of the 4th edition of the Goa State Mini U-14 tennis ball cricket championship, organised by Sparkling Sports & Cultural Club, Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association, and the Sports Authority of Goa.
In a close match, Pragati set a target of 36 runs, with Aditya (11 runs) contributing the most. However, Shree Sharada's bowling attack proved exceptional, with Aayan (2 wickets), Avnish (2 wickets), Paras (2 wickets), and Swarit (1 wicket) restricting them.
Chasing the target, Shree Sharada displayed brilliant batting skills, with Avnish (16 runs) and Swarit (8 runs) leading the charge. They secured victory by 6 wickets with Vikalp of Pragati being named the Player of the Championship for his overall performance.
In the girls' final, Surashree Kesarbai Kerkar High School, Keri, Ponda put up a dominant performance. Batting first, they set a formidable total of 56 runs without losing a single wicket. Tanaya (20 runs) and Tanishka (31 runs) impressed with their batting prowess. Sacred Heart High School fought valiantly in response, with Prachi (20 runs) and Latisha (16 runs) showcasing their skills.
However, SSK's bowling attack, led by Harshi (2 wickets) and Gulbaug (1 wicket), restricted them to 53 runs, securing victory by 3 wickets. Tanaya, with her all-around performance, was declared the Player of the Championship for the girls' section.
The winners were presented with trophies, individual prizes, medals, and certificates in the presence of Siddhesh Naik (President, North Goa Zilha Panchayat) and Nandakumar Shet (Sarpanch, Kumbharjua Panchayat).
