Sinq Rangers registered a commanding 23-run win over Desserts N More Avengers in the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 tournament organized by the Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust. The floodlit encounter, played on Thursday at the MCC Ground in Margao, witnessed a disciplined all-round performance from the Rangers.
Batting first after winning the toss, Sinq Rangers posted a competitive 162 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was built on a solid middle-order effort, highlighted by a brisk half-century from Sairaj Dhond, who struck 50 off just 25 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes. He was well supported by Mehank Dharwadkar, who remained unbeaten on 40 from 24 deliveries, smashing one four and three sixes to give the innings a late flourish. For the Avengers, Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar was the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets.
Chasing 163 for victory, Desserts N More Avengers began cautiously but struggled to maintain momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. Despite a fighting knock from captain Kaushal Hattangadi, who top-scored with 46 off 28 balls (3 fours, 2 sixes), the required run rate kept climbing, increasing the pressure on the batting side. The Avengers eventually finished on 139 for 7 in 20 overs.
The Rangers bowling attack delivered a disciplined performance, with Nikhil Virginkar, Krishnakant Hegde Desai, and Arin Angle picking up two wickets each. Tight lines, accurate lengths, and sharp fielding ensured that the Avengers never seriously threatened the target.
With this comprehensive win, Sinq Rangers strengthened their position in the tournament and underlined their credentials as strong contenders for the title.
Sairaj Dhond received the Desserts N More Player of the Match award, while Arin Angle was honoured as the Kamat Realty Hero of the Match. The awards were presented by Anup Kudchadkar and Pranav Biche.
