MARGAO: St. Anthony Club, Colva edged past Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 5–4 in a tense tie-breaker at Varca to book their spot in the semifinals of the Varca Panchayat Cup, organised by Varca Sports Club, at the Varca Ground on Saturday.
The teams went into half-time locked in a goalless stalemate. Don Bosco’s Rahul Sharma had a chance to break the deadlock but missed a first-half penalty, sending his attempt wide. Despite both sides displaying attacking intent throughout, neither managed to convert their opportunities, forcing the match into a shootout.
In the tie-breaker, St. Anthony Club scored through Samson Gomes, Terrance Noronha, Kabir Khan, Adsal Fernandes and Clifford Miranda. Don Bosco Oratory found the net via Valerio Miranda, Rahul Sharma, Ashley Andrade and Shubert Colaco.
