Fr Agnel Pilar finishes second; Janata HS Mapusa takes third place

The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA), in collaboration with Goans Hockey, successfully organized the Under-15 Boys Nehru Hockey Tournament at the Peddem Sports Complex. The tournament, which concluded recently, featured 10 participating teams and showcased a high standard of hockey from emerging young talents across the state.
The event witnessed a series of spirited and competitive matches, with teams demonstrating excellent skill, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout.
St. Anthony's High School, Monte de Guirim emerged champions after a commanding 4-1 victory in the final. Fr. Agnel High School, Pilar secured the runner-up position, while Janata High School, Mapusa finished in third place.
Organizers praised all participating teams for their strong performances and commitment to the sport. “The level of play was truly impressive and reflects the promising future of hockey in Goa,” a DSYA official said.
The spotlight now shifts to the upcoming Under-17 Men’s and Women’s Nehru Hockey Tournament, scheduled to begin on September 12, again at the Peddem Sports Complex. Organizers expect an even higher level of competition and encourage hockey enthusiasts to attend and support the young athletes.
