MARGAO: St Sebastian Youth Club, Murida Fatorda registered a comfortable 3-1 victory over Nuvem Sports Club to book their place in the last eight of the Mount Carmel Trophy, organised by Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel in association with Carmel Sports Club, Telaulim, at Rosary Church ground, Navelim on Wednesday.
The match began at a slow pace, with both sides attempting to take control and create scoring opportunities. Nuvem had the first chance through Shenoy Colaco, but his shot was blocked by Murida goalkeeper Royston Colaco. St. Sebastian, however, capitalised on a corner kick taken by Cayven Araujo, which was headed in by Alfred Noronha to give his side a 1-0 lead at half-time.
After the break, St. Sebastian increased the tempo and dominated proceedings, scoring twice through Roque Borges and Clarrie Fernandes to extend their lead to 3-0. Nuvem Sports Club managed to pull one back in the final quarter through Drawin Colaco, but it proved insufficient to mount a comeback.
Franson Furtado of St. Sebastian Youth Club, Murida Fatorda, was adjudged Player of the Match and was awarded by Bombay Gymkhana player Francisco Fernandes.
