Geno Sports Club and Salgaocar Cricket Club notched up victories in Wednesday's matches of the Goa Cricket Association Premier Division One-Day League. Geno outplayed Chowgule Sports Club by seven wickets, while Salgaocar defeated Margao Cricket Club by 24 runs.
At the GCA Academy ground in Porvorim, Chowgule Sports Club struggled to build momentum despite a 51-run opening stand and were bowled out for 152 in 28.4 overs. Captain Darshan Misal top-scored with a fighting 62, while Gauresh Kambli (39) and Shubham Desai (25) chipped in. Geno's bowlers kept things tight, with Leggie Manish Kakode and Nihal Surlakar claiming three wickets apiece and Shiven Borkar taking two.
Geno chased the target comfortably, reaching 154 for 3 in 25.2 overs. Veer Yadav struck 52 to provide a solid start, while captain Manthan Khutkar remained unbeaten on 61 to anchor the innings. Nihal Surlakar added a quick 14 not out to complete the chase.
In the second match at Sanguem, Salgaocar Cricket Club posted 234 for 8 in 40 overs after electing to bat. Captain Yash Kasvankar led from the front with a fine 92 off 88 balls, including eight fours and a six, while Yogesh Kauthankar and Piyush Yadav made useful contributions.
Margao Cricket Club responded with a spirited effort but fell short at 210 in 38.3 overs. Deepraj Gaonkar (53) and Chigurupati Venkata (55) kept the chase alive, but wickets at regular intervals derailed their pursuit. Kasvankar capped an all-round performance with three wickets, while Fardin Khan also grabbed three as Salgaocar sealed a 24-run win.
