The month-long annual summer football coaching camp for boys and girls aged 6 to 17 concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony on Saturday at the Varca Ground.

Organised by social worker Warren Alemao, the camp was aimed at nurturing budding football talent in the Benaulim constituency and drew over 300 young participants.

The camp, held under the guidance of qualified coaches and talent spotters, focused on skill development and early talent identification. The initiative provided a valuable platform for children to utilise their summer break productively and explore football as a serious career path.

Kenedy Alemao, former Zilla Panchayat member and chief guest at the closing ceremony, officially declared the camp closed. In his address, he lauded the efforts of the organising team and emphasised the importance of sports in building discipline, unity, and future opportunities for the youth.

Flavia Barretto, Sarpanch of Varca Village Panchayat, also attended the function. “This camp is more than just football. It’s about nurturing our children through sport and building stronger communities,” she said.

Adding star power to the evening were Indian international footballers Sandesh Jhingan (FC Goa) and Arindam Bhattacharya (Inter Kashi), who inspired the young participants with their presence and motivational messages.

Reflecting on the journey, Warren Alemao said, “This camp was never just about drills and matches. It was about dreams, unity, and hope for our children. As long as I’m alive, this summer camp will continue every year. This is not the end—it’s just the beginning of something truly beautiful.”
