Perpetual Succour Convent High School Navelim had to work hard to secure a 5-4 victory over Loyola High School Margao via tiebreaker in the All Goa Interschool Under-14 Football Tournament organized by United Sports Club of Seraulim, in memory of Late Sir Jawaharlal Da Costa, at Panchayat Ground Seraulim.
Both teams failed to score during regular time. Loyola had two opportunities to score, but their strikers couldn't capitalize on the chances. On another occasion, Ruben's powerful shot hit the crossbar. Since neither team managed to score, the tiebreaker system was employed, and Perpetual converted all five of their penalties through Aryan Nevagi, Cain Fernandes, Emmanuel Gama, Musab Shaikh, and Ashnoy Vaz. Loyola scored through Ruben Barbosa, Shelloyd Sequeira, Andreas Furtado, and Joe Andrade, with Flynn Antao's kick being saved by the goalkeeper.
Benaulim MLA Captain Venzy Viegas was the chief guest. Fr Basil Vago, principal of Loyola High School, was the Guest of Honour, along with special invitees Melvin Pereira, chairman of The Kings School, Ligia Pereira, director of The Kings School, Sr Liberata Fernandes, headmistress of Perpetual Succour Convent High School Navelim, Remedious Fernandes (Timothy), the first president of the USC of Seraulim, and all past presidents of USC, namely Nelson Noronha, Olavo D'Souza, and Joaquim Dias. Maria Perpetua Da Costa, wife of late Sir Jawaharlal Da Costa, and Angela Dourado, panch, VP Seraulim, were also present to award prizes to the winners and runners-up.
