United Boys Ambaulim booked their place in the final of the Curtorim Villagers Cup 2025 with a convincing 2–0 victory over Curtorim Gymkhana in the first semifinal played at the St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Tuesday. The tournament is being organised by Curtorim Gymkhana.
UB Ambaulim got off to a strong start, nearly taking the lead in the 5th minute when Alex Fernandes forced a fine save from Curtorim goalkeeper Johnson Bhagot.
The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Soweil Fernandes unleashed a powerful shot that found the back of the net, putting Ambaulim ahead 1–0.
Curtorim had a golden opportunity to equalise before halftime, but Jovel Martins failed to keep his shot on target, sending it over the bar.
Ambaulim extended their lead in the 40th minute, with Alex Fernandes making amends for his earlier miss by finishing neatly to make it 2–0.
Despite missing a couple of chances to increase their lead, UB Ambaulim maintained control, with their defence standing firm against Curtorim's late attempts to get back into the game.
UB Ambaulim will now face the winners of the second semifinal between Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda and Parish Youth Nuvem in the final.
Soweil Fernandes of UB Ambaulim was named Man of the Match for his impactful performance. He was presented the award by social worker Roque Mascarenhas, along with former Curtorim Gymkhana players Victor Fernandes and Joaquim Fernandes.
