Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has welcomed the decision of the Cuncolim Municipal Council rejecting the file seeking NOC by Goan Marine Impex Pvt Ltd for the proposed fish meal plant.
“I wholeheartedly welcome the unanimous decision of all 14 councillors of the Cuncolim Municipal Council to reject the proposal for a new fish meal plant in our constituency”, Yuri said in a statement.
He added: “I had previously cautioned the government against prioritizing polluting industries that compromise the well-being of our people. If the government disregards public interest, we will agitate to protect the rights and health of our people”.
The Cuncolim MLA had on Sunday stirred a hornet’s nest by claiming that two members of the ruling dispensation are involved in setting up the fish meal plant at Cuncolim.
