MARGAO: United Boys of Ambaulim stormed into the finals of the 3rd Late Uday Shirodkar Memorial inter-village football tournament with a solid 2–0 victory over Fr. Agnel YSC Paroda in the semifinals held at the Subhash Chandra Bose Sports Complex, Karai–Shiroda, on Saturday.
In a keenly contested clash between two neighbouring villages, both teams showcased determination and skill before a large crowd. However, UB Ambaulim proved the stronger side, striking twice in the first half. Sowell Fernandes was the hero of the match, netting goals in the 10th and 14th minutes to seal his team’s place in the final.
Former Shiroda Youth Club footballer Salojin Colaco presented the Man of the Match award to Sowell Fernandes.
UB Ambaulim will face the winners of Monday’s second semifinal between Ugem Rising Club and Margao Sports Club, scheduled for December 1.
