MARGAO: United Club of Verna edged past CAC Cansaulim 5–4 in a tense tie-breaker to enter the quarterfinals of the 2nd Parish Y Nuvem Cup at the Nuvem Ground on Saturday.
CAC Cansaulim drew first blood through Rishi Soares in the 30th minute, but their lead was short-lived as United Club of Verna equalised in the 38th minute via Celroy Gomes. With no further goals in regulation time, the match headed into the shootout, where United Club of Verna held their nerve and proved to be the better side.
Celroy Gomes of United Club of Verna was awarded the Man of the Match, presented by Armand Mendes.
