In the Senior Women's One Day Trophy Elite Cricket Tournament, Kerala registered an impressive 102-run victory over Goa on Wednesday on the strength of an all-round team performance. Batting first, Kerala piled up a formidable 282 in 47.5 overs. In reply, Goa were bowled out for 180 in 45.3 overs. The match was played at the GSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
In Kerala's innings, Akshaya A played a composed knock of 64 off 78 balls, which included nine fours. Asha S smashed a brisk 71 off 56 deliveries, steering the team towards a big total with eight fours and a six. Vasu Drishya (38) and Najla CMC (27) also made useful contributions. Though a few wickets fell in quick succession in the middle order, Kerala eventually reached 282.
For Goa, Tejashwini Duragad delivered an impressive spell, claiming 5 wickets for 48 runs in 9 overs. Vidhi Bhandare took 2 wickets, while Pooja Kalel, Poorva Bhaidkar, and Shreya Parab picked up one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 283, Goa got off to a strong start. Purvaja Verlekar (59) and Harshita Yadav (66) stitched together a solid 113-run partnership for the first wicket, raising hopes of victory. Harshita struck nine fours and a six and was moving towards a century, but once she was dismissed, Goa's innings lost momentum.
In the middle order, Tejashwini Duragad (7), Diksha Amonkar (4), and Poorva Bhaidkar (2) failed to make significant contributions. Tanaya Naik remained unbeaten on 22 but did not receive adequate support from the other end. The remaining batters failed to reach double figures.
For Kerala, Asha S bowled brilliantly, conceding just 19 runs in 10 overs while taking 3 wickets. Shani T claimed 4 wickets for 28 runs in 10 overs, breaking the backbone of Goa's batting line-up. Vinaya and Darshana Mohanan picked up one wicket each.
With this defeat, Goa concluded their campaign in the tournament at sixth place in Group C. Goa recorded 2 wins and 5 losses from 7 matches. The defeat against Tripura proved particularly costly for them.
