Agxem Sports Club cruised into the semifinals of the 2nd Caniza Peixoto Memorial Football Tournament, defeating Sporting Club Virabhat with a commanding 5-2 victory at the St. Alex Church Ground, Curtorim, on Tuesday. The tournament is being organised by Black Arrow Boys Agxem Sports Club.
Maxiwal Castanha led the charge for Agxem SC, netting a brace with goals in the 22nd and 42nd minutes. He was well supported by Michael Paes (5’), Prinson Martins (41’), and Agnelo Gomes (32’), each adding a goal to the tally.
For Sporting Club Virabhat, Ryce Fernandes found the net in the 30th minute, while Sydney Fernandes added another in the 44th minute, but their efforts weren’t enough to stop the dominant Agxem side.
Despite the defeat, Jones Fernandes of Sporting Club Virabhat was adjudged the Man of the Match for his spirited performance. The award was presented by Mario Gomes, a member of Agxem Sports Club.
