Agxem Sports Club clinched the title of the St Alex Parish Youth Inter-Ward Cup, defeating Pidadigal Sports Club 2-0 in the finals of the 7-a-side football tournament, organised by St Alex Parish Youth Curtorim and played at the St Alex Church ground on Sunday.
In a lively and well-contested final, both teams played attacking football and created several chances. However, Agxem SC made the most of their opportunities, with Alroy Gomes opening the scoring in the first half. Jovial Martins added a second in the final session to seal the victory for Agxem.
Fr Victor Viegas was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony, held in the presence of Fr Manuel Dias, Fr Michael, Fr Santario, Rui Menezes, and other dignitaries.
Earlier in an exhibition match, St Alex Higher Secondary, Curtorim defeated Pope John XXIII, Quepem, adding to the excitement of the football-filled day.
