Dempo Sports Club triumphed with a commanding 6-1 victory over Dempo Juniors in the final of the Goa Monsoon Football Premier League 2025, held at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.

Murphy Fernandes was the star of the match, scoring once and assisting five times. Dempo Juniors took an early lead through Topan Minz, but Dempo equalised before halftime thanks to Murphy Fernandes, with the scoreline tied at 1-1 at the break. The senior Dempo team dominated the second half, scoring five unanswered goals to seal a comprehensive victory.

Earlier in the evening, Guardian Angel SC edged Sporting Clube de Goa 2-1 to claim third place. The prize money for the tournament was Rs 1,00,000 for the winners, Rs 50,000 for the runners-up, Rs 25,000 for the third place, and Rs 10,000 for the fourth place.

Over the tournament, Dempo Sports Club scored 20 goals in four matches, while Dempo Juniors netted 12 goals in the same number of games. Murphy Fernandes and Vishal Chavan emerged as joint top scorers with six goals each. Pradip Chopdekar was lauded as a consistent performer for Dempo SC. Ashon Vaz and Jonathan Silva of Dempo Juniors also impressed throughout the competition.

Murphy Fernandes, captain of Dempo SC, and Topan Minz, captain of Dempo Juniors, led their teams with distinction.

Speaking after the final, Dempo Sports Club coach Pradeep Chopdekar said, “I am very happy that both my teams reached the final. This is a historic day for Dempo Sports Club. The boys showed fantastic character and quality football. I am blessed to have a hardworking technical staff always dedicated to the club’s progress. Thanks to the management and club president Shrinivas Dempo for their unwavering support.”

Dr Caitano Fernandes, president of the Goa Football Association, was the chief guest and distributed the cash prizes in the presence of Anthony Pango, senior vice president of GFA, and Jonathan D’Souza, vice president of GFA North Goa.
