AVCC XI and Patshala Boys Zaino secured their places in the quarterfinals of the 2nd Edition of the AVCC Open 9-a-Side Football Tournament, held on Sunday at Velim Church ground, after defeating Santa Cruz Sports Club (Cumbiabhat, Velim) and Young Boys of Goemchem Bhat, Velim, respectively.
The tournament was inaugurated with the ceremonial kick-off by veteran Arvind Fernandes, alongside his youth friends Xavier Furtado, Dulcidon Almeida, Zorro Coelho, Lester Torcato, and others. The event also saw participation from social and football enthusiasts Savilon D’Costa of Tollecanto, Velim, and Savio D’Silva (Zaino, Velim), with support from Jetroy and others associated with the organising committee.
