Erica De Sequeira has brought laurels to Goa by clinching a gold medal at the WMC India Muay Thai Championship – State Title Belt & Ranking Series 21, held in Peddem, Mapusa.

Speaking to this sports reporter, Erica expressed her happiness at winning gold at the national level and said she is determined to work harder to achieve her dream of competing internationally.

She shared that her interest in martial arts began in childhood, but the lack of proper infrastructure posed several challenges along the way. Despite this, her determination helped her rise through the ranks.

Erica delivered an outstanding performance at the championship, dominating the tournament with an opening bout win by RSC (Outclass), followed by a TKO victory. Her consistent form and control in the ring helped her secure the gold medal.

Training at ACS Training Academy under coach Ronnyy, Erica has built an impressive record, winning nearly 27 medals, including 17 at international events. “I feel proud to represent the country. My younger sister is also training under the same coach,” she said.

She expressed gratitude to Damu Naik for his financial support and assistance in helping her access government schemes. Praising her achievement, Damu Naik described Erica as “an asset to the nation” and assured continued support for her future endeavors.

Erica also thanked her coach Ronnyy for his guidance and for helping her achieve success in martial arts, along with acknowledging the support she received to showcase her talent at both national and international levels.
