CRC Chinchinim defeated United Club of Verna 2-0 to lift the St. Rock’s Super Soccer title, at St. Rock’s Ground, on Sunday
CRC Chinchinim made a bright start and took the lead in the 8th minute through Shario Gomes, who finished clinically to send their supporters into celebration. United Club of Verna responded with a strong move in the 15th minute, but the disciplined Chinchinim defence stood firm to deny the equaliser.
Chinchinim went into halftime with a narrow 1-0 advantage after controlling key phases of the first half, while Verna continued to search for openings.
After the break, Larson Rebello produced a moment of brilliance in the 35th minute, dribbling past multiple defenders from midfield before calmly slotting home the second goal to double Chinchinim’s lead.
Verna fought hard till the end, earning corner opportunities in the 46th minute and later, but the Chinchinim goalkeeper remained alert, producing crucial saves to maintain the clean sheet. Their best chance came in the 55th minute, but a foul halted their momentum.
At the final whistle, CRC Chinchinim were crowned deserving champions after a commanding 2-0 win amid loud applause from the crowd in Majorda.
Larson Rebello was adjudged Man of the Match for his outstanding performance and match-sealing goal.
The final was attended by several dignitaries, including chief guest Wilfred D’Sa. Guest of honour was Lyndon Monteiro, along with Anthony Pango, and Paulos Dourado, besides other club officials and dignitaries.
