Dragon Boys Curtorim edged past Unique Boys with a narrow 1–0 victory in the opening match of the 8th All Goa 7-a-side football tournament, organized by Damdolem Sports Club Curtorim at Raitollem Ground on Wednesday. The win secured Dragon Boys a place in the quarterfinals.
The match was evenly contested, though Dragon Boys looked sharper from the start. They created multiple chances, testing the opposition goalkeeper through attempts by Sowell Fernandes, Teron, and Nanu. Unique Boys also had a key opportunity before halftime through Midroy, but neither side managed to score, and the first half ended goalless.
After the break, Dragon Boys found the decisive goal in the 32nd minute. Alex delivered a precise cross into the box, which was well finished by Teron Fernandes to make it 1–0. Unique Boys pushed hard for an equalizer, with Levon Fernandes coming close, but his effort was denied by the goalkeeper, who punched the ball away for a corner.
Dragon Boys had a chance to extend their lead when Alex Fernandes found himself in a one-on-one situation, but he failed to convert. In the closing moments, Unique Boys nearly equalized, but Valeriano missed a crucial tap-in opportunity.
Alfino of Dragon Boys was named Player of the Match, with the award presented by football enthusiast Sebostiao Fernandes.
