Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Porvorim emerged victorious against Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola to secure the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Cricket Women Championship by 81 runs, at the Goa University ground recently.
Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola won the toss and elected to bowl.
In the opening inning, Vidya Prabodhini successfully accumulated a total of 191 runs while losing 4 wickets over the course of 20 overs.
The top performers with the bat were Ruchi Kumbhar, who scored 81 runs off 61 balls, and Athashree Shivarkar, who contributed 44 runs from 23 balls.
On the bowling side for GC Khandola Sanjana Palkar & Sanisha Gaude took 1 wicket each.
In the second inning, Government college khandola failed to chase the target and managed to score 110 for a loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.
Deevita Palkar scored 26 runs of 28 balls and Sanika scored 12 runs in 6 balls.
On the bowling side Vidya Prabodhini, Athashree Shivarkar dominated by taking 3 wickets by giving 23 runs and also Ruchi Kumbhar contributed by taking 2 wickets while giving 7 runs.
Best Overall performer of the match was Ruchi Kumbhar from Vidya Prabodhini College.
Best Bowler of the match was Athashree Shivarkar of VPC.
Best Player of the championship was also awarded to Ruchi Kumbhar from Vidya Prabodhini for being the most valuable player of the tournament for scoring 167 runs in 3 innings at average of 55 and strike rate of 138.02 in which 81 being highest score in the finals and also taking 5 wickets, 2 maidens at economy of 3.22.
The valedictory ceremony was honored by the presence of Dr. J.P. Tiwari, Dean, Goa Medical College. The event also featured Guest of Honor Dr. Ujwala Hanjunkar, Incharge Vice-Principal, Vidya Prabodhini College and Dr. Poonam Tiwari, Goa Medical College along with Mr. Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports at Goa University. Together, they presented medals and trophies to the finalists.
