Loliem Tigers, Young Maratha, Rising Star Agonda & Palolem Warriors enter quarters

Loliem Tigers, Young Maratha, Rising Star Agonda, and Palolem Warriors marched into the quarter-finals in dominant fashion at the 1st Chetan Manju Desai Leatherball T-20 Cricket Tournament held at GCA Grounds, Mashem.

All four teams topped their respective groups with a perfect record, winning all three of their league matches to finish with six points each. They will be joined in the knockout stage by second-placed teams Mallikarjun Gaondongrim, Arya Strikers, The Stunners, and Maratha Warriors, who secured qualification with two wins from three matches, earning four points apiece.

The quarter-final line-up promises exciting contests. On Wednesday, Palolem Warriors will take on Mallikarjun Gaondongrim, while Young Maratha face The Stunners. Thursday’s fixtures will see Rising Star Agonda clash with Arya Strikers, and Loliem Tigers go up against Maratha Warriors.

Individually, Santosh Satarkar of Loliem Tigers emerged as the leading run-scorer in the league stage, amassing 118 runs in three innings at an impressive strike rate of 159.46. He is followed by Rising Star Agonda’s Amrut Zalmi and Sandy Velip, who both scored 104 runs, with strike rates of 152.92 and 146.48 respectively.

In the bowling department, Sandy Velip of Rising Star Agonda led the charts with an outstanding performance, claiming 9 wickets in three innings, including 44 dot balls, at an average of 7. He is followed by Uday Shet Desai of Young Maratha, who picked up 7 wickets with 49 dot balls at an excellent average of 3.71.

On the fielding front, Pratik Khokar of The Stunners topped the tally with involvement in 7 dismissals, including a run-out. Close behind is Mandar Devidas of Young Maratha, who also contributed to 7 dismissals, including a catch.
