FC Goa’s U-17 side endured a difficult outing in their second match of the AIFF U-17 Elite Youth League 2024-25 Final Round, suffering a 6-0 defeat against a dominant Punjab FC team at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati.
The Gaurs entered Matchday 2 following a hard-earned 2-2 draw in their opening fixture against the AIFF FIFA Talent Academy. However, Punjab FC—who also won their first game—proved too clinical, putting six goals past the Goan defence in a commanding performance.
Ashish Lohar opened the scoring for Punjab in the 11th minute, followed by a stunning hat-trick from Sameer, who netted in the 14th, 31st, and 38th minutes to take control of the match. Further goals from Aniket Yadav (22’) and Vikash Kisku (75’) sealed an emphatic win for the northern side. Sameer was later named Man of the Match for his all-round attacking display.
In the other Group A fixture played on Sunday, the AIFF FIFA Talent Academy edged Sudeva Delhi FC 4–3 in a thrilling encounter, solidifying their position in the group.
After two rounds, Punjab FC lead the group with six points from two matches, scoring eleven goals without conceding. AIFF FIFA Talent Academy are second with four points, having recorded one win and one draw. FC Goa currently sit third with one point, while Sudeva Delhi FC remain at the bottom with no points from two games.
