Sesa Football Academy is all set for the final round of the Indian Women’s League 2 (IWL 2) 2024–25, which kicks off on May 9 at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa.
With a place in the top-tier Indian Women’s League (IWL) up for grabs, the Goan side is focused on delivering a strong campaign.
The final round will feature six teams competing in a round-robin format: Sesa FA, Roots Football Club, Krida Prabodhini Pune, Indian Arrows Women Juniors, and Garhwal United FC. The top two teams at the end of the tournament will earn promotion to the IWL, the highest level of women’s club football in the country.
Sesa FA begin their campaign on May 9 with a late kickoff against Garhwal United FC at 8.30 pm. Earlier in the day, Roots FC will take on Indian Arrows at 4.30 pm, with both matches taking place at the Duler Stadium.
Head coach Severino Fernandes is confident in the team’s preparation and mindset ahead of the crucial stage.
“The players are aware of the importance of this tournament and the quality of opponents. We’re focused on our goals and will approach each match with the intent to perform and progress,” said Fernandes.
Sesa FA qualified for the final round after an impressive group stage, topping Group C with eight points from four matches. The team remained unbeaten, recording two wins and two draws while scoring 13 goals and conceding only three.
