Goa gears up for Susegado Strike’s professional boxing fight night

PANAJI

Professional boxing continues to strengthen its foothold in Goa, with Susegado Strike steadily emerging as a platform that places fighters and competition at the heart of the sport’s growth. The emphasis, the promoters stressed, is firmly on creating meaningful bouts, developing professional boxers, and offering fans high-quality match-ups that reflect the true spirit of the sport.

This was evident at the press conference held earlier today at the YMCA Conference Hall, Panaji, where Susegado Strike – Fight Night 4 (Anniversary Edition) was unveiled. The interaction brought together co-founders Prathamesh Naik, Luigson Fernandes, and Clyde Lobo, alongside Goan boxers Kailas Gauns and Prahlad Panda, both set to headline championship bouts at the upcoming event.

Detailing the fight card, Clyde Lobo announced an exciting line-up of bouts that will take place on December 20, from 6.30 pm onwards at the International Centre Goa (ICG), Dona Paula. The evening will feature two major IBC National Title fights, underlining Goa’s growing stature on the professional boxing circuit. Kailas Gauns will contest the Super Fly Men’s National Title against Vanlalenkawltira in a 10-round battle, while Prahlad Panda will take on Vinod Vanteddu in the Featherweight National Title bout, also scheduled for 10 rounds. Another championship clash will see Midhun A face Mohammed Dilshad over 10 rounds in the Middleweight category.

The undercard promises equally competitive action, with Akanksha Singh vs. Lakshmi M Gireesh in the Super Fly Women’s division (4 rounds), Asad Asif Khan vs. Ashish Kumar in Super Feather Men (8 rounds), Gazal Maria Mathew vs. Raj Sahiba in the Super Welter Women’s category (6 rounds), and a Heavyweight clash between Arshdeep Singh Batth and Shijo Shaji over 6 rounds. The official weigh-ins for all participating boxers are scheduled for December 19 at Fitness Bar, Panaji.

Speaking on the broader purpose behind these bouts, Prathamesh Naik outlined Susegado Strike’s mission to build a sustainable professional boxing ecosystem in Goa. He noted that the organisation was founded with the belief that local fighters deserve consistent opportunities to compete professionally and gain national exposure. He further shared that the long-term vision is to increase the pool of professional boxers from Goa to at least 25 within the next two years, creating a strong and competitive base for the sport in the state.

Focusing on the boxers, Luigson Fernandes highlighted Susegado Strike’s commitment to promoting Goan fighters on a national stage. He pointed to Kailas Gauns and Prahlad Panda as examples of how structured opportunities can help local talent flourish. Luigson further explained that professional boxers are compensated through structured bout contracts, reflecting their level and experience, which plays a crucial role in making boxing a sustainable profession.
