Chandigarh moves towards the lead against Goa

Chandigarh reached a strong position at 270 for 4 in 80 overs on the second day of their Cooch Behar Trophy Elite (four-day) match against Goa.

Goa had earlier been bowled out for 308 in their first innings after batting for 98.3 overs. Chandigarh trail by just 38 runs with six wickets in hand. The match is being played at the GCA Academy ground in Porvorim.

Goa had ended the first day at 278 for 7 and could add only 30 more runs on the second morning. Chigurupati Venkata was the last wicket to fall, scoring 23 runs. For Chandigarh, Yuvraj Singh was the most successful bowler, taking 4 wickets for 48 runs.

Chandigarh then made a solid start, with Abhimanyu and Rithwik Sood (37) putting on an opening partnership of 64 runs. Markanday Panchal (33), batting at No. 3, added 84 runs for the second wicket with Abhimanyu. Abhimanyu then shared partnerships of 33 and 40 runs with Meet Dahiya (19) and Ehit Salaria (17), respectively. After their dismissals, Abhimanyu and Aditya (32 not out) added an unbeaten 49-run stand, ensuring Goa's bowlers were not allowed to dominate. Opener Abhimanyu remained unbeaten on 120, which included 10 fours, coming off 244 balls. For Goa, off-spinner Mihir Kudalkar was the most successful bowler with 2 wickets for 49 runs. Two days of play remain in the match.
