Goa Hockey state finals week begins with high-stakes matches across categories

PANAJI: Goa’s hockey scene is set for an action-packed week as multiple state-level fixtures across junior, sub-junior, and senior categories are scheduled to take place, featuring top teams from across the state.

The excitement which kicked off on yesterday, with the Junior Men’s and Women’s State Finals, where the winners of the North District faced against the winners of the South District with matches expected to showcase the best emerging hockey talent at the junior level.

The focus then shifts to the Sub-Junior (U-16 Boys) category, with the pending State Semi-Finals of 2025 scheduled for April 20. The fixtures for the day are: the two semifinals between Janata High School, Mapusa vs Loyola High School, Margao and Fr. Agnel High School, Pilar vs Damodar English High School, Gudi.

The Sub-Junior State Finals (2025) for both boys and girls will be held on April 22 with the Women’s Final scheduled at 9 AM, followed by the Men’s Final at 10:30 AM. These matches are expected to bring out some of the finest young hockey talent in the state.

Later in the day, the spotlight will turn to the pending 2025 Senior State Finals set for 2:30 PM. In what promises to be a thrilling encounter, Star Sports, Gudi will take on Crozan Society, Bastora for the senior title.
