St Sebastian YC Murida, Fatorda scored in each half to defeat a strong Cuncolim Union 2-1 and book their maiden place in the final of the Cavelossim Panchayat Cup 2026, organised by the Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim at the Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim.
Cuncolim Union dominated the early exchanges and created several chances in the first half, but Murida goalkeeper Royston Colaco stood firm, pulling off fine saves to deny Warren Dias and Shankar Gaunkar.
Against the run of play, Murida took the lead in the 20th minute through a moment of brilliance. Shubert Colaco’s long-range free-kick from the centre line dipped over the defence and into the right corner of the net, giving Murida a 1-0 advantage.
After the break, Cuncolim Union increased the pressure with a direct, long-ball approach. However, efforts from Daulat Dessai and Jolyton Fernandes failed to break through Murida’s resolute defence, well marshalled by Roque Borges and Samsom Dias.
Murida doubled their lead in the 50th minute when Judeson Soares latched onto a short pass inside the penalty area and unleashed a quick, powerful shot to make it 2-0.
Cuncolim Union mounted a late comeback and reduced the deficit in the final ten minutes, with Viraj Velip converting from the penalty spot to make it 2-1. They came close to equalising when Frazer Fernandes fired a powerful shot across the face of goal, but there was no one to apply the finishing touch.
Shubert Colaco was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance, with the award presented by Colva Sarpanch Theresa Silva.
