MARGAO: Guardian Angel SC Curchorem staged a spirited comeback to defeat Carmona Sports Club 7-6 via a tiebreaker and secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the 1st Late Inacio Colaco Memorial Football Tournament, organized by Mandopa Sports Club at Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Wednesday.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw at full time. Carmona took an early lead through Stanford Fernandes in the 9th minute, but Guardian Angel responded with an equalizer from Cyril Dias in the 27th minute.
In the ensuing tiebreaker, Guardian Angel held their nerve and proved to be the better shooters.
Cyril Dias of Guardian Angel SC Curchorem was named Man of the Match, with the award presented by Cladias Dias.
