Guardian Angel Sports Club secured a place in the semifinals of the 17th St. Anthony Festival Cup with a dramatic 5-4 victory over Guirdolim Club in a penalty shootout, after a goalless draw in regulation time. The quarterfinal match was held on Wednesday at Moll Ground, Assolda, and was organized by St. Anthony Sports Club, Assolda.
Both teams displayed attacking intent throughout the game and created several chances, but neither side managed to break the deadlock by the final whistle.
In the tense penalty shootout, Guardian Angel SC converted all five of their spot-kicks through Milroy Clement, Fedrich Fernandes, Godwin Costa, Ivon Costa, and Cyril Dias. Guirdolim Club responded with successful strikes from Sevaraj D’Costa, Akram Yadwad, Sunny Fernandes, and Velentinho Carvalho, but fell short by one.
Ivon Costa of Guardian Angel SC, Curchorem, was named the Man of the Match for his composed performance under pressure.
