The Fr. Agnel Sports Complex, Vashi, witnessed a pulsating finish as Indian Bank edged past Central Secretariat 72–70 to lift the title at the 1st Ravindran Nair Memorial All India Men’s Basketball Tournament, recently.
The five-day tournament, organised by the Agnel Alumni Association, was a fitting tribute to the late Ravindran Nair—an iconic figure in Indian basketball who devoted more than four decades to developing young talent and promoting the sport nationwide.
Central Secretariat’s Pratyanshu produced a stellar performance, repeatedly breaking through the Indian Bank defence and keeping his team firmly in contention until the dying seconds.
Indian Bank, however, held their nerve when it mattered most. Bala and Pranav Prince emerged as the difference-makers, showcasing calm decision-making and clinical execution in crunch moments. Pranav Prince’s consistent brilliance across the tournament earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Devang Pandya, CTO of Savex Technologies, who presented the winners’ trophy to the jubilant Indian Bank side. With this triumph, Indian Bank not only claimed the inaugural title but also etched their name into the tournament’s history books.
Featuring seven strong teams, including the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Integral Coach Factory, and others, the tournament set a high standard for competitive basketball.
