United Boys of Ambaulim secured a place in the finals of the 2nd Vauradencho Ixtt Trophy after defeating Curtorim Gymkhana 6-5 in a penalty shootout at the DYSA Ground, Curtorim, in the first semifinal on Wednesday. The tournament was organised by Batora United in association with Margao Sports Club.
In a thrilling contest, both teams created numerous scoring opportunities. Ambaulim took the lead in the first half when Cyril Dias tapped in a precise feed from Sowell Fernandes. Curtorim Gymkhana responded in the second half, with Ryan Fernandes netting a goal to level the match 1-1.
The ensuing tie-breaker saw Ambaulim convert all five penalties through Dalion Carvalho, Alfiano Fernandes, Sowell Fernandes, Cyril Dias, and Selton Fernandes, while Curtorim scored four.
Alfiano Fernandes of United Boys of Ambaulim was named Man of the Match by James D’Costa, in the presence of Denzilia Menezes.
