Maina Sports Club clinched a thrilling 4-3 victory via tiebreaker against Cuncolim Union in the XIX Chinchinim-Deussua Village Panchayat Cup football tournament at the CRC Chinchinim Ground.
Both teams displayed attacking intent in a closely contested encounter that ended 1-1 at full time. Daulat Dessai gave Cuncolim Union the lead, while Crizenal Pereira restored parity for Maina SC to ensure the sides were locked 1-1 at halftime and at the end of regulation time.
Cuncolim Union were reduced to 10 men after Frazer Fernandes was shown a red card, adding further drama to the contest.
In the ensuing tiebreaker, Maina SC held their nerve to seal a 4-3 win. Viraj Velip, Mac Fernandes and Shanker Gawdes converted for Cuncolim Union, while Rhay Dias, Vdroy Paes, Milagres Fernandes and Desly Peixoto found the net for Maina SC.
Crizenal Pereira was named Man of the Match, with the award presented by chief guest Joyce Rebello, Panch of Village Panchayat Chinchinim-Deussua, who graced the occasion.
