Mandopa Sporting Club stormed into the quarterfinals of the 32nd All-Goa Inter-Village Football Tournament with a convincing 2–0 victory over United Club of Verna at the Utorda ground. The tournament is organised by United Club of Utorda in association with the Sports Authority of Goa.
The opening half saw both sides locked in an evenly contested battle, creating scoring opportunities but unable to break the deadlock as the teams went into the lemon break at 0–0.
Mandopa Sporting Club raised their tempo after the interval and seized control of proceedings. Richard Costa broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal, while Wellington Almeida added the second to put the result beyond doubt and confirm Mandopa’s place in the last eight.
Deniston Fernandes of Mandopa SC was adjudged Man of the Match. The award was presented by chief guest Roque Crasto in the presence of Assistant Treasurer Azavedo Gomendes.
