Swimmers from Margao RCC delivered an impressive performance at the 9th National Finswimming Championship, organised by the Underwater Association of India, winning a host of medals while representing Goa.
Leading the charge was Reuben Rocha in the Under-12 category, who bagged six medals, including three individual gold medals in the 50m, 100m and 200m events. He also contributed to three relay medal-winning performances.
In the senior category, Nigel Mark Raposo secured a silver medal in the 400m Bi-Fins event.
Goa's relay teams also enjoyed considerable success. In the Under-14 (D Group) category, the quartet of Reuben Rocha, Lancio Luke D’Costa, Kenisha D’Costa and Bhumija Lenka won gold in the 4x100m Bi-Fins Mixed Relay and silver in the 4x50m Bi-Fins Mixed Relay.
The Under-16 (C Group) team comprising Reuben Rocha, Aaradhya Thakare, Kenisha D’Costa and Sanituis Rebelo clinched bronze in the 4x50m Bi-Fins Mixed Relay.
In the Under-18 (B Group) category, Sachi Quiran Chari, Khushi Sandeep Borker, Nathan Rafael Raposo and Shripad Bhagwant Shenvi Lotliker secured two silver medals in the 4x50m AP/B/F Mixed Relay and 4x100m B/F Mixed Relay, besides a bronze medal in the 4x50m B/F Mixed Relay.
The senior (A Group) team of Nigel Raposo, Prathamesh Vengulakar, Mithika Karapurkar and Aaradhya Thakare added another silver medal to Goa’s tally in the 4x100m B/F Mixed Relay.
Other Margao RCC swimmers who participated in the championship were Nyla Raposo, Malhar P. Thakare, Jatin Singh Kaira, Daksh Golatkar, Arnav Raut, Yogita Gaude, Gautam H. Gaude and Deep Naik.
All the swimmers train under RCC Swimming coach Inacio "Netty" Raposo, whose guidance has played a key role in the club’s success at the national level.
