Colvale witnessed a significant boost to grassroots cricket with the inauguration of a newly constructed cricket pitch at Dhuma Academy recently. The initiative, led by Jeevan Naik and the Naik family, aims to provide structured training facilities for the upcoming generation of cricketers in the region.

The cricket pitch has been developed with the vision of identifying, training, and nurturing young cricketing talent from Colvale and nearby areas. The project received full financial and developmental support from Vipul Vinod Phadke, former GCA President, along with Viraj Vinod Phadke.

Financial support for the project was generously provided by Paresh Dicholkar (Sarpanch, Colvale), Ritesh Warkandar (Panch, Colvale Panchayat), and Nitin Kandolkar (Ex-Sarpanch, Colvale), reflecting strong community involvement and commitment towards sports development.

The facility was formally jointly inaugurated by Nilkant Halankar, Minister for Fisheries of Goa and a former cricketer from Colvale, and Vipul Vinod Phadke, in the presence of family members, local sports enthusiasts, and well-wishers, including Uday Warang, BJP Thivim Block General Secretary and Viraj Vinod Phadke.
