Loliem Tigers, The Stunners, Panyafond Mangan Stars and Palolem Warriors registered victories in their respective league matches of the Shri Chetan Manju Desai Leather Ball T-20 Cricket Tournament, played at the GCA Grounds, Mashem, Canacona.
The Stunners delivered a dominant performance to defeat Cotigao Yuwa Warriors by 76 runs. Batting first, The Stunners posted a strong total of 196/6, powered by Akhil Naik (73 off 47) and Priyesh, who scored a brisk 72 off 38 balls and was named Player of the Match. In reply, Cotigao Yuwa Warriors were bowled out for 120, with Devanand Pagi starring with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 19 runs.
In another match played on Sunday, Loliem Tigers secured an emphatic 89-run victory over Mallikarjun Gaondongrim. Loliem Tigers piled up a massive 214/4, with Mohanesh Naik (66 off 31) and Anoop Kurtarkar (64 off 50) leading the charge. Mallikarjun Gaondongrim were then bundled out for 125, as Player of the Match Vinesh Satarkar (4/14) and Sushant Raikar (3/15) ensured a comfortable win.
Panyafond Mangan Stars defeated SBK Talpona by 27 runs in a competitive encounter. Batting first, Panyafond posted 162/7, with Manoj Tari contributing 42 off 32 balls. In response, SBK Talpona managed 135/5, despite Devesh Namshikar’s 53 off 45 balls and Utkarsh Pagi’s 34 off 36. Suyash Namshikar (3/17) and Udit Pagi (2/36) impressed with the ball, while Rahul Pagi was named Player of the Match for his all-round effort (2/25).
In the final match of the day, Palolem Warriors chased down a target of 138 to defeat JanSena Warriors by four wickets. JanSena Warriors posted 137/7, with Darshan Painginkar scoring 43 off 38 balls. Palolem Warriors successfully chased the target, finishing at 138/6, thanks to a match-winning 59 off 36 balls by Player of the Match Vikrant Pagi and a supporting knock of 35 off 34 by Sweekar Pagi. Dhru Pagi chipped in with two wickets. For JanSena Warriors, Ganesh Sudhir and Deepak picked up three and two wickets respectively.
