SFX Sports Club Camarxete delivered a commanding performance to thrash Cumborda Sports Club 5-0 and book their place in the final of the 9-a-side Inter-Ward Football Tournament 2025, organised by Fondegal Youth Club at St. Alex Church Ground, Curtorim, on Tuesday.
The match kicked off with both teams showing high energy and intent, resulting in an exciting and fast-paced contest. Cumborda started on the front foot, launching multiple attacking moves in the first half, but the resilient Camarxete defence held firm, denying them any clear-cut chances.
In the 15th minute, SFX Camarxete broke the deadlock when Casvino Fernandes capitalised on a pinpoint cross from Anslem Fernandes, calmly slotting the ball home to give his team a 1-0 lead. Despite creating several more opportunities, the duo of Casvino and Anslem were unable to convert, and the first half ended with Camarxete narrowly ahead.
After the break, both teams came out aggressively, but it was Camarxete who made the most of their chances. In the 35th minute, Anslem Fernandes doubled the lead with a fine finish following a well-built attacking move. Cumborda continued to search for a breakthrough but found no way past the Camarxete backline.
The match saw a turning point in the 43rd minute when Velroy Paes played a clever through-ball to Casvino Fernandes, who dribbled past the goalkeeper to score his second goal and put Camarxete 3-0 up.
In the closing moments, Casvino, showcasing his dribbling prowess, completed his hat-trick with a brilliant solo effort, making it 4-0. Just before the final whistle, he added another to round off the scoreline at an emphatic 5-0.
Velico Paes was named Man of the Match for his solid all-round performance and key assist.
