MARGAO: Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Ganesh Gaonkar visited the Radhakrishna Hockey Stadium in Chennai, the venue of the recently held FIH Junior World Cup. He was welcomed by Hockey India treasurer Shekhar Manoharam, who briefed him on the growth and development of hockey in Tamil Nadu and the state’s improving infrastructure.
During the visit, Dr Gaonkar expressed appreciation for the world-class facilities and requested Farrel Furtado e Gracias, secretary and member of the Executive Forum Committee of the Legislature Forum, to submit a proposal for developing a similar hockey stadium in Goa. He assured that the proposal would receive support from Sports Minister Rajesh Tawadkar and Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
Also present on the occasion were former MLAs Victor Gonsalves, Manohar Amahekar, Mahadev Naik, former Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, treasurer Sadanand Malik, and members Deepak Bhosale, Prakash Shtekar and Jayesh, who lauded the stadium infrastructure.
