MARGAO: St Anthony’s High School, Majorda edged past St Jude High School, Betalbatim 4–3 in the South District Under-17 boys’ inter-school hockey tournament organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at the Guddi Sports Complex, Quepem.
Majorda dominated the first half and went into the break with a 3–0 lead, with Tulsidas scoring twice and Laxman Kumar adding one. Tulsidas later completed his hat-trick to extend the lead to 4–0. St Jude staged a late fightback, scoring through Samudh, Nebusab and Rahul, but fell short as St Anthony’s held on for a narrow win.
In the second match of the day, Perpetual Succor Convent High School thrashed newcomers Rosary High School, Navelim 7–0. Anthony led the charge with a hat-trick, while Riyan, Valito, Glasher and Cleric chipped in with a goal each.
