St Sebastian Youth Club, Murida (Fatorda) secured a place in the semifinals of the Late Franco Gouveia Memorial Football Tournament with a convincing 3-1 victory over United Club Verna, organised by St Anthony Sports Club Colva at the DSYA Ground, Colva, on Wednesday.
St Sebastian Youth Club took the lead in the 32nd minute through Franson Furtado. Edison Dias doubled the advantage five minutes later in the 37th minute, giving Murida a strong grip on the match. Richie Vaz then extended the lead early in the second half, scoring in the 47th minute.
United Club Verna managed to pull one back in the 55th minute when Roydon Rego converted a penalty, but they were unable to mount a comeback thereafter.
Edison Dias of St Sebastian Youth Club Murida was adjudged Player of the Match and received the award from Tasha Fernandes, a football enthusiast and family member of the late Franco Gouveia.
