A 17-year-old student, originally from Bengaluru, was found hanging at his residence in Nessai, Sao Jose de Areal, last night.
Maina Curtorim Police Station in-charge, PI Kapil Nayak, said a suicide note left behind by the student indicated that he did not want to appear for competitive examinations. The deceased, he said, had appeared for the NEET exam, which has since been cancelled due to a paper leak.
PI Nayak said the deceased did not specifically refer to the NEET exam, but stated that he did not want to appear for competitive examinations.
The incident occurred late last night when the student was found hanging in his bedroom. His parents contacted the police after finding him hanging from the fan.
The post-mortem examination was conducted at the South Goa District Hospital and the student’s mortal remains were later handed over to his relatives for the last rites.
Though originally from Bengaluru, PI Nayak said the student and his family had been staying in Goa, and that he had completed his schooling in the State.
