Home guard death: ST Commission seeks probe into alleged leak of report

MARGAO
Even as the authorities conducted an exercise to “recreate the scene” at the spot where a home guard was found dead, the Goa Commission for SC/ST has told the South Goa district collector to conduct a proper inquiry into the alleged breach of secrecy vis-à-vis the post-mortem examination report in the death of home guard Dinesh Gaude.
Dr Madhu S G Ghodkirekar, HoD/in-charge and associate professor in forensic medicine at GMC posted at the South Goa district hospital, forest officials, and police participated in the exercise on Wednesday evening. Dr Ghodkirekar later told the media that no senior forest official participated in the exercise as the department had deputed junior officials to the spot.
Meanwhile, the Goa Commission for SC/ST has told the South Goa district collector to conduct a proper inquiry into the alleged breach of secrecy vis-à-vis the post-mortem examination report in the death of the home guard. The collector has further been told to submit an action-taken status report before the commission.
The commission initiated the process after receiving a complaint from Dr Ghodkirekar regarding breach of secrecy required to be maintained about the post-mortem report. The home guard belonged to the scheduled tribe community.
