Master Blaster interacts with students, bowls and bats on indoor pitch at Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya’s state-of-the-art auditorium

Seeing Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar up close was a dream come true for hundreds of his fans, as he inaugurated the ‘Kala Krida Angan’, a state-of-the-art multipurpose auditorium at the Centro Promotor De Instrucao (CPI)’s Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya in Canacona on Friday.
The ‘Master-Blaster’ even bowled four balls to a school kid, and batted for equal number of deliveries on the Indoor Cricket Pitch in the multipurpose auditorium.
The mere entry of the cricketer into the gated compound sparked off jubilation among the hundreds of students from CPI’s Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalayas nursery, pre-primary, primary, high school & higher secondary school of science, arts, and commerce, along with their parents and special invitees. Many residents came just to have a glimpse of the iconic cricketer who is often seen on screens.
After lighting the traditional lamp and garlanding the portrait of Lord Mallikarjun, Tendulkar was led into the school assembly complex.
“The Kala Krida Angan, envisioned as ‘where champions train and legends begin’, is designed to nurture young talent, providing world-class infrastructure for sports, cultural events, and academic activities. This initiative is a milestone in promoting holistic education and empowering students of Canacona and beyond,” stated CPI Managing Committee President Shamba Naik Desai.
Guest of Honour and Directorate of Education Director Shailesh Sinai Zingde was felicitated on the occasion.
Earlier in a brief programme, Centro Promoter De Instrucao Managing Committee President and GCA General Secretary Shamba M Naik Dessai welcomed, while Deepa Desai gave a brief talk on the iconic cricketer. The program was compered by Manoj Naik Gaonkar, while the vote of thanks was delivered by CPI Secretary Omkar Desai.
DPM’s Shree Mallikarjun & Shri Chetan Manju Desai College Chairman and former GCA President Chetan Manju Desai, noted consultant interventional cardiologist (Mumbai) Dr Ajit G Desai, Shree Mallikarjun Devasthan, Canacona, President Rajendra Desai, and GCA President Vipul Phadke were also present at the event.
