Goa witnessed some top class competition at the windsurfing event at Sail Goa 2026. With 45 registered sailors it is one of the best attended windsurfing event in the country. With a short window of good winds during the day due to the overcast morning conditions, the race officers had their work cut out to conduct the stipulated number of races for the day and have done a superb job so far.
In the iQFOiL class which is the Olympic Class, with 7 races completed at the end of Day 2 , Ebad Ali of Army Yachting Node (AYN), the 2023 Asian Games medalist leads Nanhe Bundela of NSS Bhopal in the Mens Division while Aryan Patidar of NSS Bhopal lead Razaa Ahmed Khan of Orissa Yachting Association (OYA) in the Youth Division.
In the iQFOiL Womens Division Vidhyanshi Mishra of NSS Bhopal is ahead of Nikhamani Bora of Sports Authority of Assam.
In the Techno 293OD class which is the Youth Olympic class, in the U17 Boys division Mohit Mhatre of Yachting Association of Maharashtra (YAM) leads Soumyajeet Ray of OYA and in the U17 Girls division Priyanshi Mishra of YAM leads Thimiti Rashmita of MG & G Area club. In the U15 Boys division Om Korvi of MG & G Area club leads Ranveer Shinde of INWTC Vizag while in the U15 Girls Division Vaishnavi Kajale of MG & G Area club is ahead of Ananya Awadhiya of NSS Bhopal.
In the Open Foil Division Rahul Choudhary of INWTC Goa is comfortable ahead of Yuvraj Goswami from his own club.
In the Raceboard Mens division DP Chennaiah of EMESC is ahead of Khopade Mayur of AYN while in the Youth Girls and Boys division Urvi Shirodkar and Siddhant Guttikunda are ahead.
With the best views of the race from the Dona Paula Jetty the next 2 days are poised to be very exciting as the top windsurfers in each class will be giving their best to come to the top of the scoring sheet.
