PANAJI: GreenShift Energy Pvt Ltd has secured Rs 50 lakh in funding from Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) for its second project under the BioE3 policy. The project focuses on improving lignin degradation to enable efficient biomass saccharification using synthetic biology.
The company, incubated at BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus, had earlier received approval for another BioE3 project on methane production from industrial carbon emissions, with support of Rs 48.6 lakh. Together, the initiatives are aimed at strengthening its biotechnology portfolio for sustainable waste management, including solutions for flue gas emissions and agricultural residues.
GreenShift previously received the Biotechnology Ignition Grant in 2022 and an SBIRI grant in 2025 from BIRAC. In 2026, co-founder Kunal Godambe represented the firm at the Republic Day ceremony and DBT-BIRAC meetings in New Delhi.
