PANAJI: The Mapusa Free Legal Aid Cell of VM Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar organised a major programme on “Drug abuse amongst youth” on January 27 at Sridora Caculo College of Commerce and Management Studies, Khorlim, Mapusa. The event was held under the guidance of faculty in-charge Siddhi Naik.
The guest speaker, Sayonara Telles-Laad, former district and sessions judge and founder and president of Beyond Barriers – Towards Hope NGO, addressed the students on the legal and social impact of substance abuse. She also spoke about available support systems and the need for awareness among young people.
Students interacted with the speaker and raised queries during the session. The organisers said the programme aimed to strengthen legal awareness and reflected the cell’s continued effort to reach out to the community.
