CAMPUS | Goa University hosts BRICS symposium

PANAJI: The School of International and Area Studies (SIAS), Goa University, in collaboration with the Department of Geopolitics and International Relations at the Manipal Institute of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, organised the BRICS Symposium 2026 at the VRPP Hall on Monday. The event focused on the theme, “India’s BRICS helmship: forging pathways to a resilient, innovative, cooperative and sustainable global order.” 

The programme began with a welcome and introduction by Geetanjali Rajgupta and Prachi Kerkar. The chairperson’s remarks were delivered by Prof K. P. Vijayalakshmi. Sessions during the afternoon examined India’s place within BRICS, innovation partnerships, maritime concerns, regional geopolitics, cultural engagement and human-centric development.

Speakers included Dattesh Parulekar, Anand V., Mukund Narvenkar, Nadeem Ahmed Moonakal, Yugank Naik, Vignesh Ram, Almin C. Jose, Amrita Jash and Shushant VC Parashar. A question-and-answer session moderated by Prachi Kerkar followed. Students, researchers and faculty members attended. The discussions aimed to map policy options and emerging alignments as India prepares to guide conversations within the BRICS grouping.
