Have to forget Goa defeat: Anelka

Mumbai City FC marquee player-cum-coach Nicolas Anelka wants his team to move on from the 7-0 drubbing they received at the hands FC Goa earlier this week with a win against NorthEast United in Guwahati on Friday.

“I look at this as a good opportunity for us because we do not have to think too much about that game. So now we have to concentrate on the next game. We will be only good if we come back with a good result, if we don’t then it’s going to be even worse. But yes, it’s good to play straight away. We have to forget that we have lost and try to think about the game against NorthEast. Tomorrow’s game will be a good one if we can get something from it. If not, I don’t know what will happen,” Anelka said on Thursday.

Mumbai are precariously placed in the table as regards their semi-final chances. With 12 points from 10 matches, they desperately need to win just as their opponents NorthEast who have 13 points from 10 matches. “You have to be clever. It’s a tough game. It’s going to be an open game but at the same time we have to be clever. The game is almost 95 minutes, we’ll see how it’s going to be. From my side I think we’ll try and play the same way. Nothing special, my players know how to play and what to do,” the former France international said.
