An unhappy Virnoda panchayat criticised the inspection of the service road by Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar and PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar, claiming that the panchayat was not informed or invited to the inspection.Complaining about the incomplete service road and absence of a flyover at the site, the panchayat members have demanded a solution to these issues within three months, failing which they have threatened to work against the MLA.

This was stated at a news conference addressed by Virnoda Sarpanch Mangaldas Kinlekar in the presence of Deputy Sarpanch Aparna Parab and panchas, Bharat Gaude, Prashant Rao and Shailendra Parab.

“The panchayat was not informed about this site inspection by Ajgaonkar and Pauskar. Keeping the panchayat in the dark about these developments is not right, because as sarpanch, locals question me. If ministers don’t bother to notify the panchayat, how am I supposed to answer the locals," asked a visibly upset Sarpanch Kinlekar. Deputy Sarpanch Aparna Parab and other panchas also spoke at the news conference. When contacted, Ajgaonkar has assured to consider the sentiments of residents in and around the area. “During inspection, the PWD minister was called by the chief minister immediately for a meeting and so he had to leave midway during the inspection. The views of locals from Virnoda, Patradevi, Malpe and Naibag will be considered and I will visit the site again along with the PWD minister and other officials,” assured Ajgaonkar.
